Friends Meeting House, London, Saturday 13 October 2012

1.30pm for general business, talk starts at 2pm. Afternoon tea will follow.

Dr Abigail Harrison Moore will be speaking about Thomas Chippendale and how a boy from Otley led one of the most important furniture making firms in England in the 18th century. Her focus will be on one of the firm's most influential commissions, for Edwin Lascelles' new home at Harewood, Yorkshire.

Abigail is currently the Deputy Head of the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds and is a leading art historian specialising in country houses, heritage and the decorative arts.

She has recently published Fraud, Fakery and False Business, Rethinking the Shrager v. Dighton 'Old Furniture Case' (Continuum, 2011).
